dearest malay dancers:
we are left with less than SEVEN weeks to SYF.
that's very little time to perfect our steps, synchronise with each other, build up our strength, feel the music, dance to the beat, figure out how to express ourselves through the dance..GET UP TO THE HIGHEST STANDARD and WOW THE JUDGES.
so, it's very important that you understand that everyone needs to pull their load. each and every one of you plays a very important role in the dance - whether you come in first, in between or last. no matter what steps you do, how many eights you perform, the level of difficulty of your steps; you are still that one dancer that makes a difference to the whole dance, the choreography, the formation, the overall atmosphere.
you definitely want to perform this dance knowing that you've given it your best shot, that you've gone through the entire process having tried your hardest and never giving up. you want to put up a dance that you are proud of, a dance where you can confidently do each step without feeling self-conscious or unsure. you want this experience to be memorable, distinctive; a journey where we achieve what we deserve.
this may also be one of the last few opportunities that we get to dance as a group - a group which has worked hard to reach where we are today, a group that helps each other and supports each other, a group that has something to prove to the judges who criticised us so sharply in the last SYF; most of all, a group that has not shied away from obstacles and is determined to face up to even the most difficult challenges.
we definitely can do it - i have complete faith in all of us. we just need to push ourselves beyond our limits, know where we are headed and press on towards the goal. eventually, we will have a dance that OWNS. but that only comes with determination, passion, perseverance, and belief in ourselves.
guys, we have work to do! see you on thursday (4pm sharp in the hall). here's where the real stuff begins.
let's put in all that we have -
dance like you've never danced before, train like you've never trained before, and feel proud of yourself - satisfied with yourself like you've never felt before.
WITH LOVE (:
